Sintya Hermawan was kidnapped from Pusat Grosir Cilitan on Saturday, July 18
Jakarta Police say Sintya Hermawan, a 6-year-old girl, was kidnapped on Saturday afternoon from a children’s playground located inside the Pusat Grosir Cililitan (PGC) shopping center in Kramatjati, East Jakarta.
CCTV recordings from PCG showed that Sintya, was kidnapped by an unidentified man at about 4:30 pm.
Sintya’s father Ridwan, who works at a phone accessory shop in PCG, was looking after his shop along with his wife Siti at the time. Their shop is located on the 3rd floor of the shopping center and Sintya asked if she could go play for a little while on the playground, located on the 4th floor.
Her parents allowed her to go but became worried after she did not return for some time. They began to search every corner of the shopping center but could not find her. They asked for help from a security guard to continue the search, but still had not found any trace of Sintya when the shopping center was closing at 9pm. Before midnight, they reported Sintya’s disappearance to the Kramatjati Police.
The police said they would check the CCTV footage the next day, but Ridwan could not wait that long and went back to PCG early Sunday morning and asked the shopping center’s security to let him check the CCTV recording himself. After going through five hours of recording, Ridwan was shocked to find footage of his daughter being taken by an unidentified man.
“Mashallah I told you why kid. Kayak hypnotized. I look at CCTV person who invites the way baseball is known to my children playground in front of it. Then he wanted to have the road. And normally he does not want the same road a stranger,” he said.
“It was like she was hypnotized. I saw on the CCTV that the unknown person was talking with [Sintya] in front of the playground. Then she wanted to go with him. Normally she would never want to go with somebody she does not know,” Ridwan told Vivanews.
Sintya’s family have not been contacted by her kidnapper and police have not revealed if they have any leads in the case. We pray she is safe and will be found soon.
