As Hong Kong’s government relaxed its anti-epidemic measures, the city marked another day without any new COVID-19 cases and the 19th day without any locally transmitted infections.

Yesterday, four Hong Kong residents who recently returned from Pakistan were confirmed to have the virus. All new cases since April 20 were imported by returning residents, with all patients since Case 1036 being tested immediately upon arrival and kept in isolation while awaiting their test results.

In light of the city’s falling rates of new infections, the government has relaxed a number of anti-epidemic restrictions and allowed bars, gyms, pool halls, and various other businesses to reopen.

Tonight marks the first night since the new restrictions came into force, and many bars across nightlife hotspots have announced happy hour promotions in anticipation of large turnouts.

Meanwhile, cinema chains are also offering up to 50 percent off ticket prices after a government-ordered six-week closure.
