“Wakeboarding is the thing I love the most in life.”

Those words proved true for Daniel Grant, an expat living in Bangkok who made lemonade from flood lemons by wakeskating down a flooded Bangkok road.

“It’s flooding. What are we gonna do? We’re gonna win shit. It’s gonna be fucking epic. It’s been raining a bunch,” Grant said in a video posted yesterday. The man then snatches his wakeskate from the back of a Mazda hatchback and shows off his athletic prowess boarding down the road through ankle-deep waters.

After the story was published, Grant told Coconuts Bangkok that he and his friends performed the stunt on Phahonyothin Road near the Bangkok University (Rangsit campus).

The video has garnered thousands of views including internationally, drawing the attention of established athletes such as Brazilian wakeboarder Pedro Caldas and champion skimboarder Adrien Raza.

“You’re mad Daniel,” Raza commented on Grant’s video.

It’s just not going to stop raining, Bangkok

Bangkok and the metro area have been inundated for weeks by heavy, prolonged rains which have paralyzed traffic, flooded roads, and stranded commuters.

Just last night, motorists were stuck in hours-long traffic on roads throughout town including Petchaburi, Rama IX and Rama IV.
