After braving floodwaters to wakeskate down a Bangkok road in a now-viral stunt, a Thai-English board bro fell into hot water with the police.

Though Daniel Grant’s apparently harmless stunt delighted many, the police said they charged him today with obstructing traffic on the flooded road in the Rangsit area of northern metro Bangkok.

They say Grant violated the 1992 Highway and 1979 Land Traffic acts, which prohibit people from obstructing the flow of traffic and creating danger for other people or motorists, according to Lt. Col. Suchai Sangsong.

Suchai said Grant had already come to the police station and admitted to the crimes.

Responding to a message seeking comment Tuesday afternoon, Grant said that he was penalized for the stunt with a THB5,000 fine.

Last week, Grant and his friends parked their Mazda hatchback on Phahonyothin Road in Pathum Thani province where Grant wakeboarded from the back of the vehicle, showing off his athletic prowess boarding down the road through ankle-deep waters.

The video has garnered thousands of views including internationally, winning props from established athletes such as Brazilian wakeboarder Pedro Caldas and champion skimboarder Adrien Raza.
