Bumped by Trump? Details for Prayuth’s trip to Washington D.C. still not finalized

This morning, Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai revealed that details for Prayuth Chan-ocha’s trip to meet Donald Trump in Washington DC, planned after an invite was extended in May, are not confirmed even though there was talk that the trip was to happen in July.

In fact, Prayuth does not even know the dates when he will get to hang with “the Donald,” reported The Nation

Foreign Minister Don claimed that both sides were still making preparations and strategizing on what needs to be addressed since leaders from the two nations have not met for three years, ever since former army chief Prayuth seized power, making himself the prime minister and creating Thailand’s most autocratic government in a generation.

The coup strained ties with Barack Obama’s administration, who weren’t into the military jailing dissidents, banning protests, and ramping up prosecutions under the country’s draconian lese majeste laws.

Don is unsure when the visit will happen.
