It’s Lit: Take the Somtam Chili Challenge at Yum Fest

Is spice your life? Do you heap dried chili on your noodles, habanero on your tacos, and phrik ki nu on anything and everything? If you scoff at any dish with under five chilis, then come show off your spice-eating skills at the Somtam Chili Challenge!

The Somtam Chili Challenge takes place on stage at Yum Fest on March 10 at 5:30pm. Here’s how it will work: At the beginning of each round a tantalizing plate of somtam will be placed in front of each contestant. With each round the spice level will increase, and contestants will have to eat the entire serving to reach the next round. (Water will be provided, but who needs that?!) Anyone who can’t finish their plate is out of the competition. The last somtam eater standing wins!

These brave people took the challenge, now will you?

How To Sign Up

To reserve your place in the Somtam Chili Challenge please send an email to bangkok@coconuts.co with your name and phone number. We’ll choose up to 15 people to sweat, cry, and ultimately triumph, over spicy somtam.

Please check in with us at Yum Fest at 5pm on March 10 (30 minutes before the Chili Challenge starts) to make sure your seat is reserved. Spots for people joining the contest without prior registration will be on a first come first serve basis, so if you really want to show off your spice eating skills then you better sign up now.
