VIDEO: What it’s like to travel through Bali #offline, no phones

“What would happen if you traveled without using the internet?”

That’s the question a travel video of a roadtrip in Bali sets out to answer.

In his video “Bali Road Trip in 4K!,” a YouTuber that posts under the name of Devin Super Tramp (Devin Grahm on Twitter) and his friends unplug to try and explore Bali the old fashioned way, without TripAdvisor, Google Maps, etc, under the hashtag #onedayoffline (though this presumably must take place over the course of more than just one day).

The result is refreshing. Instead of watching people bumbling around glued to their phones (as we see way too often in Bali), the video shows a group of young folks living life to its fullest, as they venture through the Island of the Gods, making sure to get help from plenty of locals rather than just asking “Siri”.

(But clearly they still allow themselves technologies to record the footage—such as cameras, selfie sticks, and a handy drone.)

Even though a good portion of the video is them playing with animals at the zoo and playing around at a waterpark, the shots of the rice terraces, motorbike touring, and temples are the breathtaking Bali we know and love.
