You can now hire one Bali expat who is apparently an expert in UX (user experience) to evaluate your website. While he’s drunk. On Bintangs.
Gizmodo recently ran a feature on Bali expat Richard Littauer to do what he does best after hours: get mabuk and let you know if your website is simple enough for a drunk person to use.
Littauer’s side-gig is taking off and he even created a website called the User is Drunk going along with that very premise:
One of the core tenets of UX is that you’ve got to design like “the user is drunk.” Any feature of your site has to be able to be used by someone who could be drunk – because, invariably, the user will mess it up otherwise. Wonderful idea. The thing is, it is hard to test.
I and a lot of beer will test this for you.

Watch the mumbling video of him above tripping through the backend of Gizmodo to get an idea of just what it’s like to have a drunken man fumbling over your website. Just to warn you, it’s a bit hard to understand either because of the speaker or because he is drunk and can’t iterate clearly.
Since appearing in the Gizmodo video, Littauer apparently got an overwhelming response with people asking them to pore through their websites and even upped his rate to $250 from $75.
Here’s what he wrote back to them after the feature on him ran:
The response has been absolutely incredible. I’ve received many requests, ranging from sober work to people asking if they could be my intern. I’ve gotten a ton of people wanting to be hired, which, frankly, is not surprising. I advertised solely by posting on HackerNews and on Twitter. The idea speaks for itself, and it got out fairly quick – it was the top of HN for almost an entire day, and #1 for 3 hours. The clients have been all over the place.
And here’s a very important and well-written FAQ on Littauer’s site in case you’re now considering putting this gent up to the task of going through your website:
