Woman arrested for stealing Rp 4 million from cousin in Tabanan, Bali

A woman reportedly says she could not resist the urge to steal from her cousin. 

Dewa Ayu Puspa Sari, 44, was arrested for stealing Rp 4 million in cash and a gold ring in Tabanan, Bali, reports Tribun Bali

Sari reportedly told investigators that something like an inner voice prompted her steal the money that was on the dresser of her older cousin, Dewa Nyoman Murya, 62. 

Sari apparently lives alone, is single, and claims to have no debt and that this is her first time stealing. 

There had been a sighting of Sari outside her cousin’s house around the time the money had gone missing on July 24, Penebel Police Chief Ni Komang Sri Subakti told Tribun, explaining how they traced the theft back to her. 

Sari could get a maximum sentence of seven years in prison if found guilty under Article 363 of the Criminal Code. 

“We will bring mental health professionals in to conduct an examination on the perpetrator,” Subakti told Tribun. 

But the alleged perpetrator says she is mentally sound. 

“I have no mental disorder,” Sari said, as quoted by Tribun Bali.
