Woman’s rotting body found in Karangasem, no signs of violence

The rotting body of a Karangasem woman was found on Tuesday when a farmer picked up on a foul stench.

Ni Ketut Natia had been missing since Nov. 18 in Amertabuana Village, when I Ketut Gatri discovered her corpse.

Her body was found lying sideways with a number of flies swarming about.

Shocked by the body, Gatri reported it to the village head, then the police, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and Basarnas (Search and Rescue).

“The corpse was immediately taken home to be buried,” Selat Police Chief I Nengah Sudiarsa told Tribun Bali on Tuesday.

Sudiarsa commented that Natia’s body showed no signs of violence and her wounds indicated she fell from a cliff into the river. The cliff that she would have fallen from is about 75 meters up.

“Maybe she had a concussion, there is a scar on her body. Additionally, the victim was mentally retarded,” Sudiarsa added.

Natia’s family wholeheartedly does not an autopsy, he said.
