Woman tries to steal motorbike in Tabanan, gets ‘lightly’ beaten by mob

A mob lashed out at a woman who apparently tried to steal a motorbike in Tabanan, Bali on Sunday.

The woman reportedly identified herself as Elvina Nasaret and claimed to be from the United States. She tried to take a black Vario motorbike, belonging to Ni Liantari, 37, in Pupuan reports Tribun Bali

She was beaten by a mob, but it’s not that bad—just severe swelling in the face and she was immediately handed over to the police by local residents, Pupuan Police Chief Wayan Sidin explained to Tribun Bali.

Sidin said that Liantari had left her motorbike in the garage with the key still in it around 9:20 pm on Sunday. Just a few minutes later, Nasaret apparently somehow got in and turned the motorbike on. Liantari demanded to know what she was doing and Nasaret allegedly responded that she was there for the motorbike. Liantari immediately shouted at the thief and her neighbors reportedly came to help her (in the form of an angry mob).

Police say they are bringing Nasaret to a mental health facility to examine her condition.
