Woman sentenced to four years in prison for joint by Denpasar court

A woman caught by a police officer with a joint got her sentence, which turned out to be slightly lighter than what prosecutors demanded

Ade Mulyani, 31, will serve four years in prison and get a fine of Rp 800 million with a subsidiary two months in prison, as opposed to the prosecution’s recommendation of five years, reports Antara Bali

Mulyani was offered a little bit of leniency because she has a small child who needs parental guidance and Mulyani’s husband likewise is serving a sentence for a narcotics case, according to Antara.

Mulyani was reportedly arrested back on April 8, 2015 when officers thought she looked suspicious, and found a joint weighing 0.25 grams in the bag she was carrying.

After they found the joint, officers searched Mulyani’s home and apparently found more drug paraphernalia. Mulyani reportedly admitted she had bought the illicit goods from a friend on Jl. Pulau Adi, Denpasar.
