Woman arrested after shoplifting 12 pairs of shoes from Discovery Shopping Mall, Kuta

Some people really have a thing for shoes, but this one woman’s interest went way too far.

A woman from Madura, East Java has been arrested in Kuta after taking 12 pairs of shoes from Discovery Shopping Mall, without paying for them.

The woman, identified in local reports as 24-year-old Nuraida, had actually been an employee at the mall, at the department store Centro.

Security was on to her after eight pairs of shoes were reported to mall police as missing from Centro.

When questioning employees at the store, police flagged Nuraida’s behavior as suspicious when she tried to avoid having her bag searched, Kuta Police Chief Comr. Wayan Sumara told Tribun Bali

After questioning Nuraida, police found that the woman has been slipping away shoes since last August and had sent some to her family in Madura.

Her actions to steal were “guided by economic factors,” according to Sumara.
