A woman visiting her husband in Kerobokan Prison reportedly says she had no idea she had been carrying the drugs that officials found on her.
Ni Nyoman Adnyani, 27, was visiting her husband on Sunday at Kerobokan when prison officers checked a snack pack she had on her, only to discover 3.75 grams of meth, reports Tribun Bali.
Adnyani was detained and her cased was handed over to North Kuta Police, Iptu Yoan Septi Henderi, head of North Kuta Police’s criminal unit, told Tribun.
Now the police are conducting an intensive investigation and awaiting the results of a urine test, Henderi says.
“If proven the perpetrator was taking drugs, it will only be under rehabilitation law. But if not, (she) will be subject to drug dealer provisions,” Henderi explained.
Indonesian law is known to go much easier on drug users than drug dealers when it comes to sentencing.
Adnyani herself reportedly said she did not know she was carrying a parcel of meth and the package had actually been given to her by a friend of her husband who he had met in Monang-Maning. She added she did not really know this friend, according to Tribun’s report.
