West Bali traffic police officer found dead on road, alleged hit and run

A member of the Jembrana Traffic Police Unit is believed to have been a victim of a hit and run after his body was found covered in wounds in the street.

Police Chief Brigadier Ketut Widana, 34, was discovered lying lifeless on Jl. Denpasar-Gilimanuk in Mendoyo on Saturday night.

Two witnesses who found Widana’s body said they came across the man’s body when they were driving past and were trying to avoid running over it.

Because of the nature and extent of his injuries, police suspect Widana was hit by another vehicle, not that he fell of his bike himself. He had apparently just finished playing volleyball around 8 pm and was on the way home.

“It was possibly a traffic accident. But that’s not been clearly confirmed by traffic police yet,” Negara Police Chief Made Prihenjagat told Nusa Bali
