Waves pull 2 Balinese out to sea at Angel’s Billabong, iconic Nusa Penida attraction

A Balinese woman and little girl are still missing after they were tragically dragged out to sea when visiting the popular Nusa Pendia natural attraction, Angel’s Billabong on Thursday.

Ni Ketut Lastri, 24, and Ni Kadek Indah Berliana, 8, residents of Desa Bunga Mekar in Nusa Punida had travelled out to the natural cliff infinity pool with their family on Thursday evening.

Just as the family decided to go home, a wave came over the edge of the pool and pulled Lastri and Berliana from behind, out to sea.

“The three other (family members) got themselves out but suffered minor injuries,” Nusa Penida Police Chief I Gede Arianta told Tribun Bali on Friday.

A search was conducted until dark for the two, then picked back up again this morning.
