Remember how Mt. Rinjani spewed ash in Lombok last month, sending hundreds of hikers into evac mode?
Well apparently the environment wasn’t quite as stressful as we’d imagine, with everyone sprinting down the slopes to get their distance.
A video posted to YouTube today by travel vlogger Matt Jordan shows a surprisingly santai (relaxed) attitude at Rinjani when the volcano’s little Mt. Barujari erupted on Sept. 27.
“So our guide says it’s okay to eat lunch next to the volcano that just erupted so, here we go,” Jordan nonchalantly says in the video, with the ash cloud in the backdrop.
Guess not everyone felt keen to leave the volcano so soon, even after news of hundreds of trekkers being evacuated!
Jordan’s video documents his three-day Rinjani trek. If you want to watch the eruption stuff, start at about 6:44.
