An officer for Bali’s Water Police, Ida Bagus Trisna Sedana, 23, was the victim of a slashing on Thursday night, local media reports.
Based on information gathered by Tribun Bali, Sedana unwittingly provoked the attack when he bumped his motorbike against someone else’s on Jl. Tukad Pekerisan, Panjer, Denpasar, when he wanted to go back to his boarding house.
Allegedly angered by their motorbike getting scratched by Sedana, two people (presumably the owner of the motorbike and an accomplice) then followed Sedana home and suddenly attacked him with a blade (sajam), according to Tribun.
“The victim says that at the time he was returning to his boardinghouse at Jl. Tukad Mawa, he was attacked by two people using sajam. The culprit was possibly after revenge because he had an incident of hitting motorbikes with the victim,” an unidentified police source told Tribun on Friday.
Sedana suffered injuries on his right hand when trying to fend off his attackers. He was taken to Trijata Police Hospital for treatment.
South Denpasar Criminal Unit Police Insp. Hendi Septiadi confirmed to Tribun that there had been an assault against a police officer but didn’t offer much more information, other than that police are still investigating and searching for the perps.
