Today marks the 14th anniversary of the horrifying Bali bombing, where 202 people tragically lost their lives on the island during a terrorist attack on Oct. 12, 2002.
Tourists and locals gathered around the bombing monument in Kuta on Jl. Legian to pay their respects.
One captivating tribute posted online by Facebook user “Budi Boné” shows a heartfelt rendition at the monument of John Lennon’s masterpiece and call for unity, “Imagine”.
“14th Anniversary of Bali Bombings. May peace be with us always,” the video’s caption reads.
Al-Qaeda-linked terrorist organization Jemaah Islamiya was ultimately held responsible for the brutal blast where a suicide bomber inside a tourist bar was followed by a car bomb in the nearby Sari Club.
October is a hard month for Bali; the 2002 attack was followed by another bombing in 2005 on Oct. 1 that claimed the lives of 20 people.
