The trial continues of the American couple allegedly involved in the murder dubbed the Bali suitcase killing.
Heather Mack, 19, and Tommy Scaeder, 21, reportedly appeared in court today with matching orange vests and handcuffs, according to the Daily Mail.
The couple is charged with premeditated murder for the death of Mack’s mother, Chicago socialite Sheila von Wiese-Mack in August 2014 at the Bali St. Regis Hotel.
From the photos of today’s proceedings, you can sure tell that Mack, who is pregnant with Scahefer’s baby, is coming closer to term—she’s reportedly due in April.
The Daily Mail believes that the photos circulating of the couple show them facing evidence, likely the suitcase that they are accused of using to hide von Wiese-Mack’s body, when they abandoned it in a taxi before fleeing the St. Regis.
The couple is being tried separately and prosecutors say Mack suggested Schaefer pay $50,000 to take out her mother, who allegedly objected to their relationship. However, based on the pair’s indictments, it does not seem like they needed the aid of a hit man.
