A health science lecturer in Bali who was accused of sexually harassing a female student has apologized for his behavior.

Putu Agus Ariana, 34, publicly apologized during a press conference earlier today at Buleleng Police headquarters.

“To the victim and [her] family, I on the behalf of myself personally and [my] family hugely apologize if I have made a mistake. I regret my error,” he said.

As previously reported, Agus’ alleged sexual harassment of his female student at her kost (boarding room) was caught by CCTV cameras, footage of which went viral over the weekend. He is currently detained at the Buleleng Police’s facility.

Agus, who has been fired by Health Science College (STIKES) Buleleng in light of the case against him, did not answer when asked about his relationship with the victim, only commenting that he is willing to be held accountable in the eyes of the law.

The video shows the student, D, sitting just outside her room, being forcefully pulled inside by Agus. She reportedly managed to take a picture of the lecturer and asked the kost owner for CCTV footage depicting the alleged harassment.

It has been reported that D initially wrote on her WhatsApp status about a personal struggle, prompting Agus to offer help. Due to his good reputation as an attentive lecturer, D sent him her location via the messaging app without any suspicion.
