An Ungasan, Bali resident died in the operating room after getting crushed by a bus.
Simpen, 65, had been driving a motorbike on Jl. Uluwatu, on his way home, when a tourist bus started to overtake him. The 65-year-old was apparently startled and crashed his bike, landing right in the path of the bus.
“He was older, maybe the sound of the bus’ horn shocked him. He fell right alongside the bus,” a family member told Tribun Bali from Sanglah Hospital.
The accident happened on Sunday around 11am.
Simpen was rushed to Surya Husada Hospital, which quickly referred him to Denpasar’s Sanglah Hospital because of the severity of his injuries.
The man immediately went into surgery, but was tragically declared dead in the operating room around 5pm that same day.
It was a vertebral fracture that killed him, reports said. Simpen additionally suffered broken ribs and damage to internal organs.
