Firefighters from the Jembrana Regency Fire Department were called in yesterday morning to evict an unexpected visitor from a pharmacy on Denpasar-Gilimanuk Street. The uninvited guest? A 1.5-meter-long python, weighing in at approximately 1.5 kilograms.
Jembrana Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) Chief I Made Leo Agus Jaya said the peculiar incident unfolded around 8am yesterday as pharmacist Ira Arisma was going about her duties.
Ira was startled when she witnessed the python slithering its way past the pharmacy’s entrance. In a state of panic, Ira promptly sought assistance from a neighboring storekeeper in her attempts to shoo away the uninvited reptilian visitor.
To their astonishment, the python managed to slip into a rain gutter positioned above the pharmacy.
Recognizing the need for professional intervention, the pharmacy owner quickly reached out to a contact in the Kota Negara area, alerting the local fire brigade to the peculiar situation. Responding swiftly, the firefighters set out to the scene.
After an arduous three-hour endeavor, the python was successfully extracted from its precarious perch in the rain gutter, bringing the unusual ordeal to a close.
The serpent, now in the care of the Bali Reptile Rescue Community, will receive further attention and care from the dedicated team of experts.
“We have dealt with the python according to the applicable procedures. The snake was successfully evacuated and handed over to the Bali Reptile Rescue community,” Leo concluded.
