Two men involved in Robert Ellis murder get 15 years jail, while mastermind got 12

The two men who took part in the murder of businessman Robert Ellis have been sentenced to 15 years in prison, Tribun Bali reported.

Martin Ngongo Bili, 25, and Adolf Malo Rangga, 34, reportedly took part in the killing of Robert Ellis, in accordance with orders made by his wife, Noor Ellis.

According to The Australian, Rangga was responsible for holding Ellis down as another man slit his throat, while Marten organized the killing, “starting from the strategy, finance, and recruiting the killers”.

The judge who presided the trial, Ahmed Peten Sili, said he deeply regrets that the two have not shown any remorse for their actions.

He also reportedly told the pair, “you are both lucky because this is a pre-meditated and arranged murder and you are not being sentenced to death”.

Rangga reportedly asked why their punishment was greater than the rest of the parties involved in the murder, including the “brain behind the murder”, Noor Ellis, who has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for ordering the murder of her husband.

The judge pointed out to Rangga that “a planned killing should be punished with death” and “it’s so easy for you to kill people…you’re dangerous”.

According to Tribun Bali, the men escaped to Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara after the murder before police successfully tracked them down.

We’ve made changes to this story. An earlier version misspelled the name of Martin Ngongo Bili. We’ve also added Bili’s and Rangga’s age.
