Two foreign workers employed at the power plant in Celukan Bawang, North Bali without a proper work permit were reportedly discovered during a surprise raid by the Manpower Ministry.
The raid that caught Chinese foreign nationals Xie Lingling and Zou Mei working illegally was on August 18, Bulelelng regency official Ni Made Dwi Priyanti Putri Koriawan told Antara Bali on Tuesday.
Koriawan says both Chinese citizens have bee working for the company China Huadian Engineering Co Ltd (CHEC) for some time.
“We have asked the hiring company, that is CHEC, to repatriate them due to incomplete documentation, which would cause more problems in the future,” Koriawan said.
She further explained that most foreign workers from China employed at the power plant in Celukan Bawang have been sent home because of their contracts expiring. From the latest data of the Manpower Ministry, there are still 136 Chinese workers who are employed by four different companies in Celukan Bawang.
