Two ex West Bali officials to face trial over corruption charges

Two former officials for the Jembrana Department of Youth Education and Sports (Disdikpora) accused of corruption were arrested and are now awaiting processing from the prosecutor’s office before facing trial.

“Both are accused of corruption and of costing the state Rp 2.328 billion,” Erna Normawati Widodo Putri of the prosecutor’s office told Inilah on Monday. That’s the children and their fitness education/activities that lost out from all that money!

Drs Nyoman Suryadi and Drs Anak Agung Gede Putra Yasa are currently being held in Kerobokan Prison as prosecutors prepare.

The two could face charges with minimum penalties of four years for abuse of authority and causing the state financial harm, Putri said.

What’s more is that the two are linked to Prof. Dr Gede Winasa, the former regent of Jembrana who was arrested for his own corruption charges.
