Two cattle thief fugitives finally arrested in Jembrana, wanted for one year

It wasn’t such a sweet homecoming for two alleged cattle thieves when they returned to Pengragoan Village, Jembrana.

No, you can’t just steal cattle and expect villagers to forgive and forget.

“When informed that they came back, our officers immediately arrested them. They stole three cows in Pengragoan Village about a year ago,” Pekutatan Police Chief Ngurah Putu Riasa explained to Anatra Bali on Tuesday.

Riasa identified the two cow-burglars by their initials: IKM, 33, originally from Tista Village, Buleleng and INR, 45, from Pengroragoan.

The two had apparently ran away to Java after stealing two cows belonging to I Nyoman Sumendra and I Made Suandra.

“They sold the two cows for Rp 12 million, with IKM getting Rp 10 million, while INR got Rp 2 million. Then they fled to Java,” Riasa said.

Think the life of a cattle thief is glamorous? It apparently kind of, sort of is, because while in Java, IKM used the money from the stolen cattle to gamble and cover his living expenses.

Antara Bali’s report did not discuss what these two men will be charged with, but it sure doesn’t seem like they’ll be let off the hook so easily.
