Truck rams into motorbike at traffic light in Jembrana, Bali because of brake failure

One of our biggest fears was basically realized by a motorbike driver stopped at a traffic light yesterday morning in Jembrana, West Bali.

Lombok man Anjasmadi, 29, was stopping at a red light in Negara around 9 am when suddenly he was rammed from behind by a truck that suffered brake failure, reports Tribun Bali

At that time, Anjasmadi was reportedly driving a Honda Mega Pro when he saw a red light and came to a stop, but a dump truck behind him driven by Ketut Weta, 48, could not stop in time because the truck’s brakes apparently malfunctioned.

Fortunately, head of Jembrana traffic police, I Gede Sumadra Kerthiawan, confirmed on Monday to Tribun that there were no casualties in the accident.

Anjasmadi reportedly only suffered abrasions on his elbow and not surprisingly damage to his motorbike.

Putu Darma, 43, a Negara resident, told Tribun Bali that he was at the light next to the victim and saw the whole thing happen, adding that his bike was also hit by the truck.

The dump truck itself reportedly suffered damage to the front bumper but the driver was fine.

Let’s just hope they replace the truck’s brakes after this incident.
