Legal proceedings for the ‘Bali Suitcase Murder’ are far from over.
Americans Heather Mack and Tommy Schaefer were convicted in Bali over the infamous murder of Mack’s mother back in April 2015. But now Schaefer’s cousin is to face trial stateside for his alleged role in Chicago socialite Sheila von Wiese-Mack’s murder.
Robert Bibbs is accused of helping Mack and his cousin, Schaefer, plot von Wiese-Mack’s murder back in 2014. Bibbs’ trial was set for Nov.7 by US District Judge Rebecca Pallemeyer on Thursday, according to the Chicago Sun Times.
And to make things a little more interesting, Bibbs apparently has an issue with marijuana, so his attorney got the judge to change the terms of his band to include drug treatment.
Schaefer, 22, was sentenced to 18 years prison by Denpasar court, while Mack got 10 years back in April 2015.
Schaefer expected to get USD11 million from Mack’s inheritance, while Bibbs also expected some cash, US federal investigators say.
Roughly five pages of typo-filled test messages between Schaefer and Mack in the moments leading up to von Wiese-Mack’s death are included in the criminal complaint against Bibbs. Mack allegedly texted Schaefer before her mother’s death that she “literally cant wait” for the murder. Harrowing stuff.
