A total of 14 defendants made their way to court in Denpasar yesterday morning to stand trial this morning for the deadly clash at Jl. Teuku Umar in December 2015 that was triggered by a Kerobokan Prison brawl.
The defendants are being tried in six separate case files, reports said.
Indictments read by the public prosecutor include a variety of charges, with heaviest carrying a max of 15 years in prison. Charges reportedly range from beatings, murders, assault, fighting, as well as carrying weapons without permits.
Despite the fact that the clash erupted from tensions between two rival Bali gangs and that there was apparently a strong showing of supporting members in court, the opening hearing went smoothly and orderly, according to Tribun Bali.
