A 29-year-old British man fell into a well in Bali and broke his leg after being chased by a dog. He was reportedly trapped in the well for six days until authorities rescued him over the weekend.
A rescue team comprising officers from the Search and Rescue Agency in Bali (Basarnas Bali) and South Kuta Sub-precinct lifted the man, identified as Jacob Roberts, from the four-meter-deep concrete pit on Saturday, following a report from a local resident in Pecatu village, Badung regency.
“[A local resident] heard someone calling for help, so he headed to that direction and found that a foreigner was trapped in the well. He immediately called authorities for evacuation,” South Kuta Sub-precinct chief, Yusak Agustinus, said.
Roberts reportedly broke his leg when he stumbled into the well, and told authorities that he had been trying to evade a dog that chased him through the village. According to reports, the reservoir was located about 100 meters away from the main street in the area.
Yusak also said that Roberts was trapped for six days, injured, and appeared weak during the evacuation process. Authorities then took him to the Nusa Dua BIMC Hospital for treatment. There have been no official updates yet on his current condition.
