Tourists can now fly into Lombok visa-free if your country is ‘on the list’

If you’re aching to get straight to Lombok and would like to give Bali a pass, but you want the free visa on arrival, you’re now in luck.

Lombok International Airport on Bali’s eastward neighboring island is ready to usher in tourists sans visas—provided they are on Indonesia’s list of pre-approved countries.

“The free-visa entry for foreigners from 159 countries has been opened at LIA. Hopefully it can widen access for foreign tourists traveling to Lombok and West Nusa Tenggara in general,” the region’s Tourism and Culture Agency head Mohammad Faozal told the Jakarta Post on Monday.

In total, Indonesia now has 29 airports, 88 seaports, and 7 border checkpoints posts that are equipped with these “visa-free facilities.”

Offering free tourist visas to such a high number of countries is part of Indonesia’s ambitious goal to get in 20 million foreign tourists annually by 2019
