One way of getting people to wear legitimate helmets is to give them out for free.
That’s just what Bali Police did today in Denpasar, as they distributed 100 helmets stamped with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI) seal of approval, reports Tribun Bali.
Not wearing a helmet in Bali is extremely risky given some of the driving that goes on here, but it’s also illegal.
Helmets were reportedly given out to motorbike drivers in front of Bali Police headquarters on Jl. Wr Supratman.
Bali Police Chief Ronny F Sompie said Operation Simpatik Agung will go on for 21 days and giving out the helmets goes along with raising awareness among road users, especially two-wheelers to use SNI standard helmets.
