The American man arrested in Chicago on Wednesday in connection with the alleged murder plot surrounding the death of American Sheila von Wiese-Mack in Bali last August was reportedly released on Friday to his mother’s home for house arrest.
Robert Bibbs’ is confined to his mother’s Chicago home, but the 24-year-old can still take online courses, reports the Chicago Sun Times. Bibbs is apparently on electronic monitoring and not allowed to travel. If he breaks these rules, he will pay USD50,000, US Magistrate Judge Maria Valdez reportedly said.
Bibbs could apparently face life in prison if found guilty of conspiring in von Wiese-Mack’s murder, as he’s accused of knowing that his cousin Tommy Schaefer and Heather Mack, planned to kill Mack’s mother.
Mack and her boyfriend Schaefer were already convicted in Bali for the Chicago socialite’s murder, with Schaefer serving an 18 year term and Mack serving 10 years.
It was just made public earlier this month that American authorities had continued their federal investigation of von Wiese-Mack’s death beyond Mack and Schaefer’s April convictions.
According to the Chicago Sun Times, the criminal complaint against Bibbs is shedding more light on von Wiese-Mack’s murder, and about five pages of text messages between Schaefer and Mack in the moments before the woman’s death indicate Schaefer expected to become millionaire, while Bibbs expected some windfall too.
