They’re in Bali! Owners of missing GoPro that washed ashore in Oz tracked down through Facebook

A couple traveling around Bali will soon be reunited with their GoPro after losing it over two months ago on the Australian Gold Coast.

Alex Malone and partner Thijs Van Gerwen never thought they would see their action camera again, let alone get it back when they were more than 5,000 kilometers from where it was lost in Oz.

But the internet makes the world a very small place. A Facebook post viral, written by a woman who found the camera more than six kilometers from where it had original been lost. The woman, Tamara Johansen, posted pictures from the camera, trying to find its owners—of course because people love a good strangers helping strangers story (much like this one), the Facebook post got shared loads of times and Daily Mail even picked it up.

That’s when a friend of the German couple’s in Peru made the connection that it was Malone’s lost camera.

Malone and Gerwen are looking to meet up in Melbourne with Johansen in September to get their camera back, and more importantly their many memories contained in photos traveling through Europe, South America, and Australia.

“We are amazed by the fact that someone took the time and effort to find us,” Malone said, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

“It’s such a great story to share with others to remind them how many nice people there are in the world.” Aww, all’s well that ends well.
