A 19 year old was reportedly sentenced to five years in prison over some marijuana in Denpasar Court.
Wayan Juli Aryawan also got a fine of Rp 800 million and a subsidiary of three months in prison over the 87.66 grams of marijuana he was convicted for on Thursday, reports Antara Bali.
Aryawan actually made off with a lighter sentence than what the prosecution had demanded—they had argued for 6.5 years in prison, a fine of Rp 800 million, and a subsidiary six months in prison.
The teen was offered some leniency apparently because he was polite in court, confessed to his actions, and is young enough to have time to straighten his life out.
He was arrested by Bali Police back on May 6, 2015 in front of a salon on Jl. By Pass Ida Bagus Mantra, Gianyar. Police found 87.66 grams of dried marijuana in his front jacket pocket. To officers, Aryawan reportedly admitted to recently purchasing the marijuana with his friend.
