A Dutch national named Dirk Hermanus Egbertus Kastermans caused quite a scene at the Denpasar District Court yesterday. The 53-year-old man stood trial for an alleged villa rental scam in the popular retirement area Sanur.

Reports say that Kastermans unleashed his fury while waiting in line for his hearing at around noon. The enraged foreigner could be heard loudly summoning his wife, who was also present at the premises.

“What the fu** is this! Taste like sh**!” Kastermans vociferously shouted his dissatisfaction with the meal served.

An unnamed prison guard, requesting anonymity, revealed that Kastermans flew into a fit of rage because he vehemently rejected the prison rations provided by the authorities. His only demand was to savor a home-cooked meal prepared by his beloved wife.

Prosecutor Edy Artha Wijaya reportedly asked Kastermans’ wife to calm her husband down.

Denpasar District Court spokesperson Gde Putra Astawa confirmed the incident, stating that Kastermans was promptly escorted back to Kerobokan Prison, where he will participate in his scheduled duplicate trial proceedings online.

“Yes, the defendant has been escorted back to the prison (Kerobokan). He was incessantly hollering and calling out for his wife,” Astawa confirmed to detikBali.

Kastermans stood trial for fraud and embezzlement, with prosecutors seeking 2.5 years of imprisonment as his punishment.

Local news outlets reported that another defendant who stood a separate trial at Denpasar Court was recently caught in possession of narcotics, prompting the authorities to tighten their security.
