Bali Customs and Excise officers at Ngurah Rai Airport have had their hands full between the arrest of a British man on Saturday who was caught with marijuana in his buttocks and also a Taiwanese man who was allegedly trying to smuggle in some narcotics of his own the day before.
Identified as Ye Sin Jhih, 30, the Taiwanese national was arrested on Jan. 1 when he flew into Bali on Eva Air BR 25 from Taipei, Head of Ngurah Rai Customs and Excise Budi Harjanto confirmed with the press on Wednesday afternoon.
Customs officers found clear crystals weighing 33.32 grams in Jhih’s suitcase—they were camouflaged in Kingstom medicine packaging, according to Tribun Bali.
After a drug analysis, the crystals were identified as a type of narcotic called ketamine.
Under Indonesian narcotics law, Jhih could face charges carrying a max lock up time of 10 years along with a maximum fine of Rp 1 billion, said Harjanto.
