Tabanan housewife arrested for selling lotto cards

Gamblers come in all shapes and sizes, housewives included.

A housewife in Penarukan Village, Tabanan was reportedly arrested by Tabanan criminal police for selling “togel,” or lotto tickets.

Police had received a tip from the public that Ni Putu Sudarni, alias Men Alit, 44, had been engaging in some illegal gambling, reports Tribun Bali.

Nyoman Sukanada of Tabanan police confirmed Sudarni’s arrest, which reportedly took place around Saturday afternoon at 4:30 pm.

Police apparently confiscated Rp 529,000 in cash from Sudarni (as evidence), along with pieces of paper containing lotto figures.

Gambling without a license could land Sudarni five years in prison, if found guilty, reports Tribun.
