Suspected Bali 9 drug op mastermind won the lottery: sitting in luxury while Chan and Sukumaran face death

A man suspected of being the mastermind of the Bali Nine drug trafficking scheme that earned Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran the death penalty is reportedly living lavishly.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the unnamed man has won the lottery in more ways than one. Around the same time that Chan and Sukumaran were sentenced to die, the alleged mastermind won over $5-million from the lottery several years ago.

He reportedly is living large in Sydney thanks to that multimillion-dollar prize. The SMH’s police sources have said the man has been investigated by police for trafficking operations, but he is believed to have stopped his illicit activity since winning the lottery.

Chan and Sukumaran did not reveal their higher-ups when prosecuted, claiming they were worried for their families’ safety back in Australia. But they may not even have known the masterminds in the drug scheme.
