Bali’s big punk rock band Superman is Dead (SID) gathered hundreds of their fans yesterday to stand up, or rather cycle, against the reclamation of Benoa Bay.
The Tolak Rekclamasi cycling event coincided with Car Free Day. The band members of SID are active members of ForBALI, the forum of artists and activists most organized in protesting the reclamation.
While pedaling, SID and fans handed out pamphlets giving 13 reasons to reject Benoa Bay’s reclamation, along with singing songs for their cause (it is SID after all).
For SID drummer Jerinx, the Tolak Reklamasi movement is creative and cultural, so they can pull from many non-violent ways to protest. One of which is bicycle. The overall goal of this event was to raise awareness and continue to educate the public about Tolak Reklamasi, said Jerinx.
