In addition to spending money on the standard food and drink, statistics reveal that people living in poverty in Jembrana Bali does not exactly have cigarettes to thank for keeping them there.
This data was published by the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Jembrana on Monday, reports Tribun Bali.
Ir Khairil Anwar of the agency told Tribun Bali on Monday afternoon that BPS statistics shows that 5.56 percent of Jembrana’s modest 268,000 population is living under the poverty line.
“Based on the survey data, the cost to purchase cigarettes in each household was placed third among impoverished people, accounting for 8.73 percent of their total income,” Anwar told Tribun Bali.
“The first expense was the need for food and drink at 35.70 percent, while the second is the need for root crops such as rice at 15.92 percent of the total monthly income.”
