A South Korean woman, flagged by Interpol, was arrested at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport this past weekend.

The woman, identified as Yang Jihye, had been wanted in Korea for illegal online gambling and Interpol had a red notice out for her, according to Bali Police spokesman Hengky Widjaja.

“She was arrested on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at 6pm,” Widjaja confirmed to reporters on Tuesday.

The 34-year-old won’t be Indonesia’s problem much longer. She will be deported back to Korea and tried for her crimes there, says Widjaja.

Jihye had entered Indonesia on Oct. 15, 2017. She came to Bali for holiday and with the intentions of getting a diving certificate, the spokesman said.

“She planned to fly on to the Philippines,” Widjaja said.

Ngurah Rai Class I Immigration director, Ari Budjianto, separately confirmed that Jihye is still in Indonesian custody.

“She is on the South Korean government’s wanted list but is still being detained here until the deportation process is complete,” Budjianto said.

South Korea is amongst the top 10 countries sending the most tourists to Bali.

Just last month, Bali Police busted a South Korean student in Oct. 2017 during a shoplifting spree in Kuta.
