Sons speak out on Noor Ellis’ murder sentence on the eve of verdict

Their mother is standing trial for having their father killed and the verdict is slated to come out on Wednesday, but sons Peter and John Ellis are concerned the sentence won’t match their mother’s crime.

We’ve been hearing about the tragic death of Australian businessman Robert Ellis since his body was found brutally murdered in a Bali rice field back in October 2014. Now we will finally learn the verdict of Noor Ellis, the slain man’s wife who is accused of ordering a hit on her husband of 25 years.

Prosecutors have recommended Noor Ellis get 15 years for the premeditated murder of her husband, nowhere near the maximum penalty of death that they could request. And defense attorneys for the Indonesian woman say the requested 15 years is too heavy

Peter Ellis reportedly says his mother should get a minimum of 20 years.

“Anything below that is unjust,” Peter Ellis, 19, told AAP.

“For a sentence of premeditated murder to go from the death penalty down to 15 years was a shock to the entire family, and we’re still trying to come to terms with how it’s possible.”

His brother John Ellis, 23, apparently dropped out of university since his father’s murder says it’s been hell.

“She has been lying to the court about supporting us, but she hasn’t done anything but make our lives a lot harder, basically hell,” he said, as quoted by AAP.

“I hope justice is done, but I have a feeling that it won’t be.”
