Twelve years after the tragic bombing in Kuta on Legian Street, some of the locals fear that the spirits of the lives lost are still haunting around the vicinity of the explosion, according to a story published by Berita Bali.
Whether you believe in ghosts or not, there’s a lot of local superstition surrounding the spirit world (not just with Balinese, but amongst all sorts of Indonesian cultures).
Eni, a local resident who claims to have indigo (think the sixth sense), says when entering a night club next to the Bali bombing memorial she saw many spirits of Bali bombing victims.
“When I went to the toilet, I saw so many spirits. I saw parts of an incomplete body, missing half of the head, the body burned, charred face, all in horror. There were also female spirits of foreigners asking where they were and if they could go him,” Eni said, as quoted by Berita Bali.
But the horror show didn’t stop in the toilet for Eni (horror is never good in the toilet, whether the spirit type or Bali belly), but Eni also claims she saw spirits on the second floor of the club which has dance floor and karaoke areas.
“They just stay quiet there, no one bothers the visitors or employees,” said Eni.
But it’s not just this self-proclaimed clairvoyant woman who senses the Bali bombing victims, according to Berita Bali. “Yes, we admit that the phenomenon does exist and we the employees have seen it with our own eyes,” said the manager of club Vi AI PI in Legian, Ardi, as quoted by Berita.
According to Ardi, the management once tried to move the spirits with a special ceremony in accordance with Hindu religious beliefs, but that was apparently bad for business and made the night club empty, so Ardi says they took the policy of “Let it Be” since the spirits were not disturbing the club visitors in the first place. “Maybe the spirits even enliven and enjoy the club’s atmosphere at night,” Ardi reportedly said.
Well at least these “ghosts” sound like more the Casper the friendly type rather than the horrifying Indonesian ghost Pocong who is believed to hop around, trapped in a shroud.
