Sketchy white powder shows up at Indonesian consulates across Australia

White powder was sent to the Indonesian consulates in Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne, causing a chemical scare and leading authorities to wonder if we’re still seeing backlash from the Bali Nine executions in Indonesia.

HAZMAT crews were reportedly dispatched to the Indonesian consulate in Maroubra, south of Sydney, when a woman opened an envelope containing the sketchy white powder. A man was checked out at the consulate by paramedics, but thankfully he didn’t need treatment and the powder was taken away for further examination, reports Australia’s 9 News

“The substance at the Perth and Melbourne locations have been deemed non-hazardous and the substance at Sydney has been taken away for further testing,” an Australian Federal Police spokeswoman said, as quoted by 9 News.

The powder’s appearance comes less than two weeks after an angry letter was sent to the Indonesian Consulate in Sydney, threatening to toss acid on Indonesian residents in retaliation for the Indonesian executions of Australians Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran.
