Billionaire Richard Branson who is known for championing a good cause, is one of the high profile people death row inmate Lindsay Sandiford has asked for support from.
Branson, who previously spoke out for mercy for the Bali Nine pair, reportedly responded to the British grandmother’s appeal, saying he was following the drug mule’s case.
“I strongly believe that the death penalty is a cruel and inhumane punishment, and every execution is one execution too many,” Branson said, as quoted by BBC.
“We are following Lindsay Sandiford’s and other cases closely and fully support efforts that are currently underway to aid her appeal.”
This week, open letters were published from Sandiford to both Branson and British comedian Russell Brand.
In the letters, Sandiford explained her case to the men and asked them to “help promote the fundraising effort my supporters have begun to pay for a final appeal against the death penalty”.
