Singapore Airlines said it has yet to make any announcements on reinstating flights to Bali, effectively denying an Indonesian official’s claim that the airline’s Singapore-Denpasar flight is going to resume this November.
In a statement to Coconuts, Singapore Airlines Public Relations Manager Glory Henriette said that they “will only adjust our schedules when restrictions on international flights are lifted.”
“Singapore Airlines did not make any announcement on reinstating the Bali flights, and will continue to monitor the situation closely,” the statement reads.
Earlier this week, Made Ramia Adnyana from the Bali chapter of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) told local media outlets that Singapore Airlines had announced a restart of their daily flights from Singapore to Bali that would commence in November.
The statement came as the COVID-19 situation in Indonesia looks increasingly more hopeful, and after several senior government officials began floating potential timelines on the country’s reopening to international tourism, which would most likely include Bali in the loop.
“As the Bali airport is still closed to international travelers, Singapore Airlines has postponed the reinstatement of flights between Singapore and Denpasar until further notice,” Henriette clarified.
Short of a full reopening, Indonesia has just started to relax restrictions on foreign arrivals, now allowing for offshore visa application to resume and existing permit holders to enter the country. The latest regulation comes after the government narrowed the exemptions’ list on Indonesia’s foreign arrivals ban at the height of a devastating second COVID-19 wave in July.
For the time being, international flights into Indonesia are limited to only Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and Sam Ratulangi International Airport in Manado.
