A flight attendant working for Singapore Airlines has been arrested in Bali for allegedly bringing drugs into Indonesia.
The Singaporean national was reportedly found with 1.47 grams of meth and two ecstasy pills on Sept. 30.
He was caught upon arrival in Bali on Singapore Airlines SQ 948 Singapore to Denpasar when going through Customs.
“The modus operandi is that the packaged goods were concealed in a black wallet. After testing the drugs, (the substances) were identified as methamphetamine and ecstasy,” Head of Ngurah Rai Customs and Excise Budi Harjanto said on Tuesday, as quoted by Kompas News.
The flight attendant was not on duty at the time of his arrest and had been traveling to Bali for holiday.
“He, the steward, was not on duty. He intended to go on vacation and wanted to use the drugs, to be enjoyed in Bali,” Harjanto said.
The flight attendant could face five to fifteen years prison with a fine ranging from Rp 1 billion to Rp 10 billion under Indonesian law.
