A crew member aboard a ship docked in Bali’s Benoa Harbor got jumped by five other crew because his colleagues apparently didn’t like how he was carrying himself.
The violent incident, occurring Saturday on the Sumber Raya I, was reported to Benoa Harbor Police.
Central Java man, M, 45, was attacked by his mates, beaten with their bare hands and kicked on the ground, says Benoa Police Commissioner Nyoman Gatra.
“The victim was slapped, punched, and kicked repeatedly until he suffered a number of contusions,” Gatra told Tribun Bali.

After the report was filed with the police, the five alleged attackers were arrested.
The reason the alleged attackers gave for beating up M was merely that they couldn’t stand his behavior.
“The motive of the beating was the behavior of the victim. Based on info from the perpetrators, the victim was too stubborn,” Gatra said.
Now the five men could face charges with a max of seven years behind bars under Indonesian law.
